‘Critical Thinking’: required if we are to have real Freedom!

Just what is ‘critical’ thinking? Why is this necessary if our society is to advance so that real ‘freedom’ arrives. The need for everyone to develop ‘critical’ thinking skills is extremely important IMO. Thinking is not easy as it requires one to ask serious questions and to challenge existing paradigms and dogmas. Critical thinking involves questions which often go against the grain of current human nature and also against the general thinking of the politicians and the power elites. The model of ‘critical’ thinking goes back to this philosopher called Socrates. Socrates started the logic of critical thinking and of seeking deeper meaning from asking serious questions!

My current question is how do we restore real freedom to our markets and also to our global society? Real freedom, to me, is when I am not RULED by another human being or a system which imposes unworkable mandates upon my thinking. In other words, I am not ruled by a political system which imposes unjust mandates upon my behavior or actions. The Trump administration, for example, should not rule over me so that my core freedoms are infringed upon. America was founded upon the concept free choice and free expression. America was also founded upon the idea that a Higher Power ultimately rules over this planet. Rule by the Creator (this invisible source which works through us) is part of what made America’s founding exceptional. We can confirm this core mindset by reading our founding documents and listening to our founding fathers ideology.

What I witness today, however, within our overall American and World education system is a lack of critical thinking on the part of our leading decision makers. The most critical issues of our times are not given to thinkers who critically evaluate and analyse the issues prior to their mandates. This creates actions which often lack wisdom. For example, why is there such a problem with terrorism today in our world? Why is terrorism (say the actions of ISIS or similar) being fought with ‘counter’ terrorism (mere tit for tat behavior)? How can we resolve the issue of ‘terrorism’ with our current strategy of ‘counter terrorism’ (drones, killing, and bombs)? How can ‘terror’ be overcome with ‘counter terror’? Could critical thinking help to work out this issue?

What steps are key to critical thinking? Step #1 is to understand the immediate ‘situation’ (what’s happening in real-time and why). Step #2 is to understand the core underlying ‘problem’ which emerges from the immediate situation (this is often difficult). Step #3 is to develop a ‘viewpoint’ or ‘perspective’ about the situation and the problem (a viewpoint must emerge after the first two steps have been completed). The above three steps must occur prior to developing any ‘assumptions’ about a course of action. So critical thinking is a process of serious thinking first about the terror situation and its history…prior to thinking about actions and policies.

Why do people resort to terrorism in the first place? Is it to further their agendas and/or get revenge or might there be deeper issues? Could there be a ‘reason’ which has been overlooked by those who simply act with ‘counter terrorism’ tactics (without any serious discernment or wisdom)? Could the perpetrators of terrorism have sound reasons for acting in this manner (based on their human nature and their current situation)? Could those who use ‘counter terrorism’ (the State) not discern their own behavior as to why terrorism originated in the first place? Does the State actually discern the underlying situation and the underlying core problems…prior to developing a ‘perspective’?

Critical thinking means asking all these serious questions ‘prior’ to deriving any conclusion as to the problem and/or as to the resolution of the problem. Maybe, terrorism emerges because people are being enslaved in some manner by those who RULE over them? Could political rulers be at the core of why terrorism develops? Could people who use terrorism have individual freedom as their ultimate goal (but which the State is suppressing via their dogmas and mandates)? Terrorism emerges for a ‘reason’. Human beings may not desire the mandates and mental enslavement which they are living under. Could this be an issue? Critical thinking will seek out the core situation (what is happening in real-time) and then the real problem…prior to developing a viewpoint and a set of assumptions for resolution!

Think about the above steps to ‘critical thinking’. Do our leaders actually think ‘critically’ about our current situation and problems? Personally, I don’t think so! Our leaders merely pursue immediate actions (usually more force and mandates) to eliminate the immediate problem for a short season. History reveals that NONE of the core human problems have been solved. After 6,000 years of human civilization we still use ‘might’ to create what we think is ‘right’. Is this critical thinking? I don’t think so! We now need to rethink all our prior thinking so that we can develop NEW THINKING for our current AGE. Without new thinking freedom will parish and man will destroy man from the face of this planet! I can discern the trend by observing the current behavior of our elites.

Let’s reject the mindset of the past and start anew with some serious ‘critical thinking’ going forward. Let’s ask: what is happening in real-time (now); what are the problems emerging from our situation (now); what would be a responsible viewpoint given our situation and problem (now); and then what assumptions could be adopted to pursue a peaceful resolution to the problem and promote REAL freedom for the planet! Socratic thinking has been around for decades and we now have some great websites which promote Socratic thinking. Let’s stop pursuing behavior which leads to more chaos and start thinking critically about our issues. Enjoy! I am: https://kingdomecon.wordpress.com.

Some additional information for your consideration:

Any prepackaged programs should not be imposed prior to asking the core questions which underlying the situation!

Critical thinking must come prior to any adoption of a solution! The underlying problem comes prior to any solution!

The mindset of Socrates focused upon asking probing QUESTIONS and continuing with QUESTIONS until sound discernment emerged! He was killed for his approach to problem solving. This reveals the mindset of the establishment (State)!

Questions may reveal that people do things which they don’t understand and/or desire! Why are negative behaviors developing in the first place?

What does it mean to be created by a Higher (invisible) Power? Is this reality or myth?

Socrates made friends and enemies with his questions. The governing elites, however, did not view his logic and his questions as acceptable. Was he corrupting the young with his questions? His actions in the marketplace led to his death via hemlock tea! Socrates was a Dualist and a great philosopher IMO! We can learn how to think critically by using his logic!
