Two-State Solution, Inauguration, Division!
Some 70 nations met in Paris to discuss the situation between the Palestinians and the State of Israel on January 15. The conclusions (even though there were no leaders from Israel or the Palestinians in attendance) were somewhat final. The vote was for a two-state solution to this 100 years war between two historical brothers. The descendants of Ishmael and Isaac (Jacob and Esau) continues and there is no real solution on the horizon. Why?
A two-state solution is not a meaningful solution as these two cultures have a long-term spiritual problem which has never been addressed. Hatred goes back generations and creating two states (next to each other) is unlikely to create harmony. To address the ‘inner’ grievances of these cultures and belief systems, we would need to address the underlying spiritual issues which lie beneath the surface issues. But this is unlikely to occur with our current politicians.
Currently, the Palestinians view Israel as illegitimate as this nation was created mostly by Truman and the United Nations back in 1948 (without the approval of the Palestinians). The boundaries were not agreed upon by both parties and the fighting since 1948 have made conditions worse and more intrenched. Can peace and harmony arise from this MEANS? I don’t think so! What needs to happen is that all starting premises must be revisited and a new MEANS must be agreed upon. Our politicians, however, do not desire this. This means more war, conflict, fighting…with NO SOLUTION arising!
The other issue which I noticed today is that 31 lawmakers are boycotting the Trump inauguration on January 20 in Washington D.C. Why is this so? It appears that the Donald has used some ‘words’ (via twitter, etc.) which the Leftist politicians view as hatred/racist/bigoted/etc. Personally, I would not interpret the Donald’s ‘words’ in this manner. Sticks and stones may break my bones but ‘words’ will never hurt me. Words convey meaning and the 31 lawmakers who are boycotting seem to be mostly offended by mere ‘words’ (which have subjective meanings). What was the core ‘intent’ of the Donald (with the ‘words’ used) would be my question? The ‘words’ are a mere transfer of one’s subjective thoughts! Meaning is what I want to understand!
So what does the Donald actually MEAN by his ‘words’ (that is my question). Mr. Lewis from Georgia calls the Donald an ‘illegitimate’ president elect (he has said this publicly). He apparently thinks that the RUSSIANS created his win in November. So this makes the Donald ‘illegitimate’ (in his view). I, however, would not come to this conclusion. I did not vote for the Donald, but I do think that his election was ‘equally’ legitimate as that of our current President, Barack Obama. So we all have our points-of-view on issues and this is reality and part of the American system.
What many seem to think (mistakenly in my view) is that ‘unity’ must be the goal for governing. The Leftist politicians seem to place ‘unity’ as essential for governing. Unity and group think could also be called political correctness and this is what many view as necessary for governing our nation. But is ‘group think’ healthy for a diverse society of individuals in a time of major change? I would suggest that diverse viewpoints are equally necessary and good within any democratic society. Individuals do NOT all think alike. I, personally, like vanilla ice cream and you may like chocolate. This is reality to me!
My personal view is that diverse opinions must be tolerated and the ‘words’ used to express one’s thinking are less important that the MEANING associated with those ‘words’. What did the Donald mean by his various tweets and comments. I ignore select ‘words’ used and go right for the underlying MEANING. To call the Donald illegitimate because the RUSSIANS hacked into Hillary’s email server is not my view of illegitimacy. The RUSSIANS may have hacked (some emails) but what counter hacking has America done on the Russians? Get the ‘beam’ out of one’s own eye prior to condemning the other! That’s my view! The underlying issues to the Palestinian and Zionist State goes back to Ishmael/Isaac and Jacob/Esau relationships. The hatred started back then. To establish peace and harmony today…one MUST address the underlying spiritual issues. That is my view!
